A balanced diet is no longer enough – supplements needed - VitaminDWiki Oct 2012

The amount of Vitamin D, Magnesium, etc. no longer even gets to the level of the RDA

And, the RDA is somewhat similar to the minimum wage, not enough to live on

And there is a huge interaction between Vitamin D, Magnesium and Vitamin K2

There has been at least a 2X reduction in the amount of

  • Vitamin D 33 reasons, which include:
People are indoors more, pigs are indoors, chickens are indoors, fish are farmed (4X less vitamin D),
People consume less cholesterol, polyunsaturated foods,
More people are lactose intolerant and do not get vitamin D from milk
  • Magnesium for reasons such as
Chemical fertilizers have far less Magnesium
Far less Magnesium in bottled or softened waters
80% less Magnesium in refined wheat
Magnesium blocked by increased use of Calcium supplements and Fluoride
Little Magnesium remains after sugar is refined
80% less Magnesium in white vs brown rice
  • Vitamin K2
Cattle often now eat corn instead of grass
Farmed fish have much less Vitamin K2 (Fish on farms typically are fed grain, not krill)
Farmed salmon have 4X less vitamin D. Wonder about Magnesium.
  • Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Far less Omega-3 fatty acids from cows fed on grains than on grass
Far more (bad) Omega-6 fatty acids from Corn, soy products
Eat less fish, and farmed fish have far less Omega-3
Omega-6 fatty acids trippled from 7 grams in 1909 to 25 grams in 1985

  • Mineral decrease from vegetables in the past century
