“Vitamin D testing is only covered under the BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) when the patient is <19 years or when the test is ordered by a specialist.”

significant liver disease

history of non-traumatic (“fragility”) fractures
malabsorption syndromes
hypo- or hypercalcemia/hyperphosphatemia

medications affecting vitamin D metabolism

unexplained elevation of alkaline phosphatase
